During the Concord Historical Society's annual Spring Tea at the Galindo House & Gardens, Concord Art Association will host Colors of Spring, a unique Art event featuring: a Fine Art Gallery Show, an Art and Craft Sale, and a Plein Air Paint Out! Artists and crafters may register for one, two, or three of these fund-raising events!

Fine Art Gallery Show and Sale Deadline extended to April 30!

 

Artists are invited to submit up to 4 pieces of two-dimensional art for display and sale in this juried show.

Show Timeline:                April 30                                          Deadline to submit via application on  JotForm

                                             April 30                                          Notification of acceptance begins

                                             Thursday, May 12                        Deliver and check-in art 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

                                             Sunday, May 15                           Pick up art 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Submit images of your artwork by April 22 via JotForm. Pay entry fee of $9 per piece via JotForm or by check payable to Concord Art Association. Mail checks to PO Box 641, Concord, CA 94522-0641. Please note "Gallery Show" in remarks on your check.

Selection Criteria:

Artist must be a member of the Concord Art Association.  Click here to join if you are not already a member.

Art is original, of the highest quality in concept, execution, and framing.

 

Notes: Maximum framed width 22" and maximum length 40." Maximum weight 5 pounds. All artworks must meet the CAA framing criteria. No glass will be permitted. Detailed framing instructions will be provided upon acceptance. Artists are responsible for collecting the 9.75% sales tax.

 

Art and Craft Sale Deadline extended to April 30!

All goods must be original art or high-quality crafts created by the seller and appropriate to the season.

3'x6' tables are available by first come/first served reservation, or use your own 3'x6' table. Tablecloths to the floor are required and will be provided to you. Store extra boxes under tables out of sight or return them to your car. Two chairs per booth will be provided. Booth attendance is mandatory on both days.

Booth Size: Approximately 8'x8'. NO nails, tape, glue, etc., may be used on the walls. Free-standing grids may be used for hanging artwork.

Apply by April 22 via JotForm. Pay a Booth fee of $55 for CAA or CHS Member; $85 for Non-member via JotForm or by check payable to Concord Art Association. Mail checks to PO Box 641, Concord, CA 94522-0641. Please note "Art and Craft Sale" in the remarks on your check.

                                             Sat/Sun, May 14, 15                    Doors open for sellers at 9:30 am

                                             Sunday, May 15                           Clear booth space 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

 

Notes: Bring your helpers for booth set up on Friday and for clearing your booth on Sunday. Please have your booth ready to open promptly at 10:00 am Saturday before you leave on Friday. Plan to keep your booth open until 4:30 pm both days. All reasonable efforts will be taken by CAA to ensure the safety of your items. Items can be considered safe to leave overnight in this secure building; however, CAA nor CHS are liable for any missing or damaged items or displays. Artists are responsible for collecting 9.75% sales tax.

 

Plein Air Paint Out Deadline extended to April 30! Or sign up on May 13 at Galindo Home!

Plein Air artists are invited to participate in CAA's first Plein Air Paint Out! Open to all artists, all skill levels, working in any painting medium. Works must be painted en Plein air (minimum of 80% completion at the outdoor location), during the designated time, at designated locations, on officially stamped canvases/boards/papers of the size limit described below. All submitted work accepted must be for sale and available for the duration of the exhibit. Artists are responsible for collecting 9.75% sales tax.

                                             Saturday, May 14                         Deliver and check-in artwork 9:00 am to 9:30 am

Notes: CAA will provide a map of historical Concord locations where work must be done. Each artist may submit one or two paintings. Paintings need not be framed but must be wired for hanging. Unframed watercolors and pastels must be mounted to a board, such as foam core, with a wire securely attached for hanging. No glass, please.

Colors of Spring attendees will vote for their favorite piece when the artwork goes on display Saturday. People's Choice Award will be announced on Sunday afternoon.

Reservation Rights

The Concord Art Association, in its sole and absolute discretion, reserves the right to change the show timeline and/or to supplement, amend or otherwise modify this Call for Artists.

 

Spring Tea

Make reservations for the Concord Historical Society's Spring Tea by calling Carole Kelsch, at 925-899-9737. Tickets are $50 per person. Reserve early if you are planning to host a group. Tea times are at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm all three days.
