Community Outreach

To fulfill its mission to enrich the lives of Concord area residents with art experiences, Concord Art Association undertakes community focused art projects every year. A partial list from recent years includes:




CAA Diablo Valley College Art Scholarship

The Concord Art Association is excited to announce a scholarship for DVC art students. CAA will be offering two $1,000 scholarships to qualified art students. The scholarship not only provides financial assistance, but we also offer:

  • A one-year CAA membership to recipients

  • A chance to display their artwork on our virtual gallery

  • An opportunity to participate in CAA art shows

  • Collaboration with CAA members in public art projects February-March (our utility box projects).

  • CAA plans to continue offering two $1,000 scholarships annually.

  • Second-year art majors currently attending DVC may apply for the coming year’s scholarship via the following link.

This scholarship will be posted by the DVC Financial Aid Scholarship program and by the DVC art instructors in Feb-March annually. CAA is thrilled to provide this opportunity to DVC art students to gain financial assistance and community art exposure. 2023 Application form to follow.

Concord Utility Box Art Project

CAA initiated Phase III of the Concord Utility Box Art Project by presenting a proposal to the City Parks and Recreation Committee. This phase will include 20 traffic control boxes throughout the city.




  • Conducted monthly art and craft classes as part of the City of Concord's Concord Live! program

  • Completed Phase II of the Concord Utility Box Art Project in downtown Concord: 4 boxes

  • Hosted a craft booth with free projects for children at the Mayor's Tree Lighting

  • Taught online after-school classes for child clients of the Monument Crisis Center and Wren Elementary School



  • Completed Phase I of the Concord Utility Box Art Project at Todos Santos Plaza: 11 boxes

  • Hosted a craft project at National Night Out at the Concord Library

  • Conducted an Art Camp for child clients of the Monument Crisis Center

  • Hosted a booth with a free children's craft project at the Mayor's Tree Lighting
