New public art initiative: Creative Concord

Our friends at Visit Concord have announced an exciting plan to enhance and elevate the arts in Concord called Creative Concord CA.

It's a month-long public arts programming initiative slated for June 2022 that will benefit our community both culturally and economically. Stay tuned for opportunities to join in the fun with CAA!

Their primary goal is to establish ten contemporary murals that will lay the groundwork for distinguishing Concord as Contra Costa County's artistic center. This strategy has been launched by many other cities across the country as a unique and impactful way to showcase their community as a great place to live, work and enjoy.

Once the goal has been reached to cover the cost of the murals through business and community sponsorships, Creative ConcordCA will be able to incorporate additional events and installations during the month such as temporary art sculptures (think Burning Man-type creations), live music and dance performances, community painting sessions, artist talks, and pop-up art/craft vending. All activities will be free to the public so everyone throughout the Bay Area and beyond will feel welcome to come and explore all that Concord has to offer.
