It is with great sadness and a broken heart that your CAA Board shares our grief with you on the passing of our dear friend and board member, Renaye Johnson, on April 6th, 2026.
As many of you know, Renaye was an integral part of the Concord Art Association. Throughout the years, Renaye held various CAA board positions and was part of the City of Concord’s Utility Box Committee (including painting utility boxes). She was instrumental in the opening of Gallery CAA at Centre Concord and liaised with the city employees there. Renaye was also CAA’s correspondent with the Concord Historical Society. This past summer, she and three other artists were commissioned to paint a mural for the Concord Historical Society. Whenever anything was needed, Renaye was always the first to volunteer and get the job done. Even with all her volunteering, Renaye found time to take painting classes with her friends, making more friends with each brush stroke.
Above all, Renaye was a loving, kind person who encouraged, praised, and inspired others. She was a blessing to each person she met. She will be sorely missed, always loved, and remembered!
Renaye’s family will be honoring and celebrating her life on June 19, from 1-3pm at La Veranda Cafe in Clayton, CA. The CAA board is also planning on honoring our beloved, Renaye. We are currently making plans and will notify you with further details and information under separate communication.
Thank you all in advance for your support, thoughts, and prayers for Renaye’s family as they grieve for this amazing woman who was a light in their lives.
