Joo Chase Teaches Korean Ink Painting at the November CAA Membership Meeting
CAA is excited to end our last member meeting of 2026, featuring Joo Chase, a CAA member and artist based in Walnut Creek. Joo will be presenting a demonstration introducing traditional Korean Ink painting at our CAA Members Meeting on Tuesday, November 10th at the Concord Library from 1pm-3pm.
At the meeting, ten attendees will be picked to participate in trying out the techniques on two simple works, an orchid painting and a circle painting. These subjects are designed to help participants practice brush control, slow and deliberate movement, concentration, patience and simple meditative techniques. Those not selected will have the opportunity to watch the process and see how Korean brush painting is created, making it an enjoyable experience for everyone. Plan to wear black clothing or a dark apron to protect your clothes. Materials will be supplied. If you have an Asian brush set, bring a medium or small brush.
Joo is a teaching artist and founder of Walnut Creek Asian Artists Association (AAWC). This past July, Joo lead a one-day Korean Ink Wash painting workshop for teenagers at the Ygnacio Valley Library. She is also currently teaching two classes at Mt. Diablo Adult Education: Watercolor & Ink Abstract Painting (abstract painting & mixed media) and Acrylic Abstract Painting. Find out more about Joo and her exhibition history on her website and follow her on Instagram at @joochaseart. You can see some of her abstract work at the Renaye Johnson Gallery CAA.
And bring your new work for the Mini Art Show! See you there.
CAA Member Meeting: Tuesday, November 10, at Concord Library, 1-3pm (doors open at 12:30 for setup and Mini Art Show participants), 2900 Salvio Street.
