We love seeing student artwork from our MDUSD public schools. These art projects from Spring, 2025 were facilitated by elementary-school teachers who are recipients of CAA grants that supply art supplies and books for their classrooms. Here's a few photos of some of their students' artwork, lovely to behold. You can find out more about CAA's community outreach programs, including the Teacher's Grants program here.
Jennifer Stevenson, third grade teacher, Woodside Elementary:
We studied Van Gogh, Matisse, Gustan Klimt, Michelangelo, Monet,Selrat, Georgia O’Keefe, Kandinsky, Picasso, Henri Rousseau and Frida Kahlo. We used a variety of mediums including construction paper, tissue, acrylic paint, watercolors, crayons, markers, acrylic markers, glue, beads, Q-tips and oil pastels. We did drawings on our backs like Michealangelo and painted, crafted and created pieces inspired by the list of artists.

Jennifer Evans, fourth grade, Monte Gardens Elementary School:
Thank you very much for the $100 grant award to purchase new oil pastels for my students. Their illustrations of Mission San Diego turned out beautifully!!!

Lauralyn Amundson, third grade, Monte Gardens Elementary special education:
The art project I chose to purchase materials for with your generous donation is a personal shield project. Students got to decorate a fairly large shield with things that represent them. They had so much fun choosing from the variety of two and three dimensional objects I was able to purchase ... You definitely had a positive effect on my students and helped build their confidence in designing a project that represents who they are.

Jenni Brennan, third grade, Silverwood Elementary:
Thank you for providing my classroom funds to enhance our classroom art. I was able to purchase paint brushes, water color paper, paints, and acrylic paint pens. Some items have already been put to use as I just had our school Open House (I have attached photos from this event showing the materials we used to complete the projects).
